The first time in 18 months, we were able to use the coach again to take us to our walking destination. This allowed us to travel a bit further afield from Selby than in the previous months and to enjoy a good chat with our respective seat neighbours on the journey before embarking on either the long walk (11 miles) or the medium walk (7 miles), both circulars starting and ending in Leyburn. The medium walk took in Bolton Hall Estate and the once important market town of Wensley while the long walk led past the ruins of Middleham Castle - once known as the 'Windsor of the North' - and through the village of East Witton - which featured once in an episode of 'All creatures great and small'. After finishing our most enjoyable walks, there was still time for a drink in one of the many pubs in Leyburn or a visit to a tearoom before heading back home together on the coach.
