Despite the long period of rain preceding this walk, it was not as muddy as expected and we stayed dry on the day. The long walk (11 miles) and the medium walk (8.5 miles) left the centre of Malton and headed through the golf club and Welham Park to Menethorpe Lane. The long walkers then followed the Centenary Way above the river Derwent towards Howlbeck Bridge. The walk then continued to Fox Covert plantation to pass a sand quarry and on to College Farm. It later reached the village of Langton where it headed back to Malton. The medium walkers went on past Manor Farm and on to Thornthorpe House. They finally reached Langton where they took the same route back to Malton as the long walkers.
