All 3 walks explored the countryside of the Pennine foothills to the west of Barnsley, starting and finishing in the village of Cawthorne. The long walk of 12 miles took in Silkstone, the Barnsley canal and Cannon Hall country park. The 7 mile long medium walk followed a shortened, similar route passing through fields, woods, river areas and heading along the old coal industrial tramway track. The short walk of 5.5 miles went out to Cannon Hall , Margery Woods and back to Cawthorne. We had an enjoyable walk with good weather as the pictures show:
