Towton Battlefields - Summer evening walk with social meal - 10th July 2026

15 people met at the cross at Towton Battlefields for our annual summer evening walk followed by a social meal at the Crooked Billet. It had been an uncomfortable hot summer's day but by the evening, temperatures felt more bearable and a nice cool breeze helped making it quite an enjoyable walk. Steve Howard lead the walk and stopped from time to time to talk about the history of the Battle of Towton, also giving us the opportunity to read the numerous information boards on the way. The walk was only 3 miles long and once finished we headed to the nearby Crooked Billet to enjoy a meal together.
