Both walks in June for the SFWC finished in Grassington.
The short walk lead by Elizabeth Dear & Linda Paxman was a 8 ½ mile walk starting at Rylstone. The long walk lead by Steve Howard was 12 miles starting at Embsay, but soon caught up with the short walkers at Rylstone Cross. Both groups then went the same way into Thorpe, short walkers headed for Linton. The long walkers headed down to the River Wharfe and followed the Dales Way into Grassington. Sadly the weather felt more like winter then June with cold bitterly winds and scattered around mid day.
We did have a few new ladies join the short walkers, hope they haven’t been put off and we see them again at our next walk in July.
Our next walk in July is at Holmfirth we hope to go back to the 3 groups, hopefully Mick Higgs after his long illness will lead a shorter walk.
