The long walk was 10.4 miles and the medium walk 8.4 miles, both were circular and started from Holmfirth, famous for being the setting for the TV series Last of the summer wine. The medium walk followed the River Holme to then ascend slightly to Dobb. The route then contoured above Brownhill Reservoir, crossing its head to Holme. Part of the Kirklees Way was then taken round Digley Reservoir to join the River Holme again below Bank Top and this was followed through a mainly wooded area back to Holmfirth.

The long walk took a similar route, following the River Holme to Holme. At Holme, the Issues Track was taken to contour across moorland. It then crossed Marsden Clough by a footbridge to pick up near Goodbent Lodge a track back to Digley Reservoir. The River Holme wasjoined again below Bank Top and this was followed through a mainly wooded area back to Holmfirth.
