Finally summer has arrived in all its glory and 31 of us headed on the coach to Holmfirth, the location of the popular TV-series "Last of the summer wine". Having left our waterproofs and any wrinkly stockings at home, we set off in 3 different groups this time. The long walk was 11.5 miles heading up to Digley Reservoir via Upperthong and to the scenic Brownhill Reservoir via the equally scenic Blackpool bridge over Marsden Clough where we stopped for lunch. The medium walk of 7.5 miles took in part of the long walk, just in reverse, and the short walk of 6 miles, which was kindly led by Mick Higgs, went to Upperthong, Hogley Green, Holmebridge and Digley Reservoir. The walks rewarded our efforts with great views as the pictures below will testify.
