Beautiful summer hills and hot temperatures
We were able to offer 3 walks again. The medium and short walk (7.5 and 5.5 miles) both went over the bridge at Reeth where we joined the public footpath towards Grinton Bridge and continued on to Marrick Priory. After a short stop we continued upwards through Steps Wood and on towards Marrick and to Hard Stiles Road. At his point the short walk headed back to Reeth via High Fremington, while the medium walk went up the road near New Close Bank and headed along Fremington edge. After continuing on towards the disused quarry, the medium walkers started a steep and narrow descent and headed back to Reeth.
The long walkers (10 miles) walked west along Skelgate Lane which lead on to open moorland. The route then contoured around the gently rising ground of Riddings Rigg, to reach Thirns Hall and continuing towards Fore Gill Gate. Descending down to the B6270, the walk then picked up a signed path towards West House and then on to a wooded path behind Scar House. Following this above Arkle Beck, a narrow lane was reached close to Langthwaite village. From there it went uphill to Booze (no Pub) and then to Storthwaite Hall. The route then contoured alongside Arkle Beck leading us back into into Reeth.
