It was forecast to be sunny and warm all day (up to 20°C), but at the beginning of our walks there was still a lot of fog hanging around and no sun to be seen. The fog, however, cleared quite soon giving way to hazy sunshine and pleasant temperatures. The long walkers were dropped off at Addingham and walked over Addingham and Ilkley Moor about 11.5 miles to Saltaire passing the Swastika stone and the 12 Apostles, a small stone circle up on Ilkley Moor. The walk contained a lot of climbing which, however, was rewarded with magnificent views.
The short and medium walk was combined this time and started in Saltaire. It went along the flat canal path towards Bingley and via the 3 Rise and 5 Rise Locks, one of the seven wonders of the Water Ways. It followed the river Aire back to Roberts Park in Saltaire, leaving plenty of time to explore the town and its famous Salts Mill.
