Our first walk in the new year started relatively close to home and took us through the Sprotbrough Flash nature reserve and woodlands along the River Don. The medium and the long walk also went past scenic Conisbrough castle and Conisbrough viaduct, while the steady walk went up to Cusworth Hall. The sights made walking off our additional pounds gained over Christmas even more enjoyable. We had a good turnout of members and also quite a few new members joining us this time. It was good to meet after the holidays and learn what everyone had been up to over Christmas. At the end of the walk, we all enjoyed a drink at the Boat Inn, a popular pub next to Sprotbrough Lock, before returning back to Selby.
