The membership of the SFWC decided to hold their Annual Lunch in January 2026.

The Festive Social Walk & Meal was held on Sunday 11th January 2026, the 4.7 mile walk was lead by Steve Howard.

The linear walk started in the market town of Thirsk; it’s known for its racecourse and depiction as local author James Herriot’s fictional Darrowby. The coach dropped everyone off  from Millgate Car Park off Marage Road.

We headed east out of Thirsk for the A170 Sutton Road, following the A170 until we reached the flyover A19, then took the steps on our left. Following the route north along the side of the A19, passing Pasture Farm, then turning right onto Hag Lane, most of the route was on tarmac road, until we passed Hag Farm, then the walking was along the side of fields heading west until we reach the village of Felixkirk and for our wonderful lunch at Carpenters Arms, where the members enjoyed the excellent food and the excellent service from the staff.
